Getting to Mt. Buller

Transport

The most up-to-date resource for making your way from Melbourne or Mansfield up to Mt. Buller whether it be by car/bus/plane or helicopter is the Mt. Buller website. Information on getting yourself up the mountain is available here.

If you're not keen on driving up the mountain one worthwhile tip is to park at Mansfield or Mirimbah and catch the bus up. The bus will drop you off at the village centre where it is a short walk to the lodge or you can catch a taxi. In 2005 parking at Mirimbah was free if you were catching the bus. Patrons would unload at the bus stop then park their car on either side of the river. A free permit was issued for parking on the Mt Stirling side of the river.

Gate and Taxi Fees

Gate entry and taxi fees for the 2006 season are available here. Mt. Buller resort management does not allow visitors  to drive up to the door of their lodge unlike Mt. Hotham so be prepared for the expensive taxi ride up to your lodge. If you are considering visiting the Mt. Buller lodge regularly during the season it is worth purchasing a season pass which allows unlimited entry to the resort or even a 4WD village Access Only pass allowing you to drop your family off at the USC lodge and then park your car back down the mountain at the main car parks.
